To sell in regulated markets you often need international certifications — FDA for the US, CE for Europe, ISO, BRC, GLOBALG.A.P and many more. They cost lakhs. Under TRACE, the Government refunds a big share of that cost.
You get back up to 60% of the actual cost (net of taxes) for certifications on the positive list, and up to 75% for priority-list certifications, with an annual cap of ₹25 lakh per exporter.

TRACE is a reimbursement. File your Intent-to-Claim on the DGFT portal before you get certified, then submit the reimbursement claim afterwards with your invoices and proof of payment.
